Every December since , the pianist and bandleader has seen in the next 12 months with a studio full of guests from the music industry. Holland will be on our screens tonight for a socially-distanced celebration, but given the stringent Covid restrictions in place across the UK discerning viewers might be wondering if the action really is unfolding live….
Usually, this means that the pre-record allows for the artists performing on the show to spend time with their friends and family when the clock strikes midnight, although celebrations this year will be very different. Speaking to The Scotsman in September, Holland said he wanted to go ahead with Hootenanny this year, albeit with a smaller line up. The 27th Hootenanny is nothing if not a celebration of the great diversity of live music in the UK and as becomes we can enjoy the likes of Sir Tom Jones, Michael Kiwanuka and Roisin Murphy joining Mr Versatility himself in the studio.
But will they actually be ringing in the New Year live with you? And who else will be performing? Simple answer: No. This year the show also takes the time to reflect on the years gone by with some of the incredible Hootenanny performances from the archive including the likes of Jamiroquai, Rudimental and Ella Eyre, Madness, ABC and Aloe Blacc, promising a musical celebration with a nostalgic nod to the past.

The first single from the album to be released is the collaboration with Mousse T. However, we are delighted to announce that legendary artist, number one selling popstar and comedian Vic Reeves will join the tour instead, singing a selection of songs on stage with his usual comic flare alongside Jools and the piece orchestra across five special nights.
Other special guests lined up for the tour include the first-lady of rock 'n' roll Lulu from 28th October to 14th November, 19th to 20th November, 1st to 8th December and 18th to 21st December. Unfortunately, due to a scheduling clash, Lulu will not be able to appear at Brighton Centre on Saturday 11th December as originally planned, with Vic Reeves stepping up to take her place instead.
Meanwhile, Jools' original Squeeze bandmate Chris Difford will join from 28th October to 27th November, and then 19th and 21st December. For dates and tickets, click here. June 4th: Angels of the Nation Angels by Kindred Spirit is the outcome of a wonderful project initiated by legendary producer Steve Brown.
A multitude of stars have come together to complete it and raise awareness and funds for the Angels of the Nation Appeal and now, sadly, in Steve's memory.
